Paul Wesley has said that he is a fan of Stefan's turn to the dark side.
The 29-year-old revealed that he does not want his character to find redemption on The Vampire Diaries, admitting that he prefers the vampire to be evil.
"Maybe never, I don't know," Wesley told MTV News. "I guess in a romantic story like this he eventually has to be [good again], but I think it's fine if he's not."
He went on to say that he could play evil Stefan for the remainder of the series.
"I can do like an entire series [as evil Stefan]," Wesley said. "People always talk about Angel [from Buffy the Vampire Slayer]. I've never seen the show, but apparently that's what happened with him."
He continued: "He went bad, and I totally understand why he did his own series bad because it's so much more fun, and I would do it in a heartbeat Vampire diaries rings."

"It's turned into a feeding frenzy," David Rotenberg, owner of David Craig Jewelers in Langhorne, Penn., said of buying gold. "It's all we're doing. People are lining up in the store."
The economy's hiccup earlier in August contributed to the increased number of consumers selling gold, Rotenberg said, and also to the types of gold jewelry they're bringing in.
The price of gold per ounce hit a record $1,830 on Thursday, marking a steady climb in the months-long rapid escalation of the price of the metal. Jewelers across the country are reporting a noticeable increase in the amount of people coming in to sell their gold jewelry, which some are reluctant to refine.
Now he's seeing scrap metal again, which leads him to believe that consumers are finding gold to sell that they haven't considered before, including mementos.
"They're obviously digging deeper," he said, "We went through a period, around 2008, where everything we were buying was scrap metal. Around 2010, people started coming in with nicer pieces of jewelry."
Despite the increased demand to sell gold for cash, not all jewelers are receptive to the notion.
"The foot traffic right now is definitely here for selling gold," he said.
"It's a real slap in the face to our industry," Cheryl Burchell, goldsmith and owner of Cheryl Burchell Goldsmiths in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, said. "I'm horrified at how much jewelry has been melted. It devalues our trade."
Burchell says she sees about two to three customers a week come into her store to sell gold, and rather than immediately agreeing to buy it, she aims to steer them towards redesign, using their own gold to create a different piece.
Janet Goldman, CEO of Fragments in New York City, shared views similar to Burchell's.
"What has kept us alive is using people's materials," she said. "They don't always understand that they if they sell their gold, they can't have it back again. The money they get from selling will be gone, and they're left without a special piece."
Her advice to jewelry designers? "Be who you are, even if it means doing fewer--but more special-- pieces."
"It's gone up, especially with all the headlines gold has made with the prices going up."
"It's interesting what's happening in the market," she said, "On a few occasions, the price of gold actually surpassed the price of platinum, so there is that perception of gold as an investment."
An associate with Rogers Fine Jewelers in Sinton, Texas, said the store has definitely seen an increase in customers wanting to sell wholesale stainless steel jewelry.

"We've been accepting gold for some time, and there's been a little more activity in it," Peter Maus, an owner of the store, said. "People are more aware of what's going on with the price."
"I think because of the gold, they're starting to view silver with a little more value," he said.

India has boosted its market share in the U.S. gem and jewellery market by around 25 percent over the past year, and is flourishing as a trading hub, Jain told Jewellery Outlook in an interview on the sidelines of BASELWORLD.
He said buyers were also re-stocking inventories from subdued levels after the global financial crisis.
Indian gem and jewelry exports are likely to rise by more than 40 percent to around (U.S.) $36-37 billion this year, bolstered by buoyant precious metals and diamond prices and strong U.S. demand, said Rajiv Jain, Chairman of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).
"There is (strong) demand, and the figures will reflect price hikes in diamonds, gold and silver," Jain said.
"They (exhibitors) are comfortable with the kind of customers they're getting earrings models."
He said Indian exhibitors attending BASELWORLD had been satisified with business done at the fair by the end of the third day of the show, which runs to March 31.
He said that Indian gem and jewel exports this year were projected to rise by some 15 percent in volume terms, after stripping out the effect of rising prices of precious raw materials.
He added, "I think people will do good business (at BASELWORLD)."
"Everyone is in agreement that if you do this kind of branding (for India), it will help their businesses."
The GJEPC is working to boost the image of India as a jewelry design centre, as well as a wholesale jewelry manufacturing hub, in the global market place, Jain said.
